Credential Options
Christian Child Development Education (CCDE) Credential
The Christian Child Development Education Credential provides a widely recognized entry-level credential for early care educators in Christian settings.
The CCDE supports:- Child Development research
- The latest brain research
- Biblical concepts and values
The CCDE is an approved DCF Florida Child Care Professional Credential (FCCPC) licensed by the Commission for Independent Education, DOE.
The CCDE Credential Requires:- 120 hours of Formal Education
- 24 hours of Christian Ministry Modules

CCDE Credential Overview (pdf) Values-based Child Development Education (VCDE) Credential
The Values-based Child Development Education Credential has been developed to provide an option for those who are located in a secular setting, but who do not have a character development curriculum in place as part of their daily routine. The VCDE requires identification of 18 key values taught throughout the year. The lesson plans required for the portfolio must reflect teaching strategies used to teach moral values to young children. An Observation Tool, Interview, and Portfolio Review will be used to assess character development curriculum implementation during the Verification Visit.

How Do I Earn?

Licensed & Approved
CDEA is licensed by the Commission for Independent Education, DOE to offer the Florida Child Care Professional Credential (FCCPC). License Number 4002
CDEA is a DCF approved FCCPC Provider.

Articulation
Palm Beach Atlantic University
PBAU offers a high quality, flexible, and realistic approach to meet the needs of the working professional nationwide, and commits to further facilitate student access to higher education, and specifically to articulate with the Christian Child Development Education (CCDE) Credential, and the Values-Based Child Development Education (VCDE) Credential. PBAU will continue to work collaboratively with CDEA to make available PBAU’s new online early childhood degree programs, in particular, the Organizational Management Bachelor of Science (BS) degree with a minor in Child Development by offering fifteen (15) credits towards this degree for the CCDE or VCDE.
Florida Community at Jacksonville (FCCJ)
For students with a Florida Child Care Professional Credential issued by CDEA or a National CDA, FCCJ will articulate 6 credits. Students who also take a TABE and score 9 in Math, Reading and Language will receive 9 credits.
NOVA Southeastern University Fischler School of Education and Human Services
NOVA University currently awards 9 college level credits for the CDA and FCCPC towards their BS degree in Child Development, with an additional 3 credits for those who earn their directors credential.
Liberty University
Liberty University will articulate the Christian Child Development Education (CCDE) Credential and the Values-Based Child Development Education (VCDE) Credential. Liberty University will apply 12 hours of college credit to the AA in Education and to the BS in Education for a minimal conversion fee.
